In El dulce cretino de la calle, the first installment of a noir narrative trilogy, the Puerto Rican writer Mirna Estrella Pérez (1978) ventures into the genre of the novel with one foot determined to delve into the darkest areas of couple and parental relationships that occur within the cycle of domestic and gender-based violence.

Author of the collection of poems: Manifiesto sobre los tristes (National Poetry Prize of the International PEN Club in Puerto Rico in 2008), Miss Carrusel (Sótano Editores, 2010) and winner of the Vicente Rodríguez Nietzsche Prize and the ICP National Poetry Prize, both in 2020, strengthens her craft as a writer within the Puerto Rican literary scene, to which she contributes a sharp voice -if not devastating-, and a handling of suspense and dramatic structure that will leave more than one with their stomachs in their mouths. The Publishing House of the University of Puerto Rico is proud to bet on young Puerto Rican narrative, of which Mirna Estrella is an indispensable author.
