2023 Banco Popular “Salsa: Sabor y Evolución”

A fantastic tribute to the tradition of Salsa for all Puerto Ricans, the 31st Banco Popular Special will look at the transformation of the genre with the Special “Salsa: Sabor y Evolución”.
Showing on all major TV stations on Sunday, December 3rd, 2023, this an annual holiday gift from Banco Popular, marks the beginning of the Christmas season on the Island. And, as in previous years, funds raised from the sale of the Special will benefit the musical programs for children and teens of the Banco Popular Foundation.
Participants include Gilberto Santa Rosa, Oscar de León, Choco Orta, La India, Michael Stuart y Domingo Quiñones with a varied repertoire that ranges from iconic classics like ‘Siembra’ through medleys with ‘Conciencia’ and ‘Déjate Querer’ among others.
Compressing the history of Salsa into just 14 songs was a herculean task!
“Salsa: sabor y evolución” will explore the key changes in the evolution of Salsa. Together with the many songs in the video, there are also interviews with well-known figures.
Juanky Álvarez, the director, says the goal of the Special is to balance the historic content and the current content, focusing on greater intergeneration appeal. “We want everyone, whether salsero or not, to enjoy this production and learn more about this music that is so important to our culture.” Parents and children should be able to enjoy it together!
